Private and semi-private lessons are an excellent way to have our experienced instructors focus on your specific needs — whether you are brand new to dancing, need to practice and reinforce what you've learned in group lessons, want to improve your technique, add styling and body movement, remember specific moves or prepare for assessments, performances, weddings or competitions.
We offer private lessons for 1 or 2 people and for small groups and wedding parties.
Lessons can be booked in a number of dance styles, including Salsa (on 1 and on 2), Bachata, Cha Cha Cha, Latin Hustle, Ballroom, Pachanga, Afro-Cuban Movement, Merengue, Styling, Spin Technique, Casino Rueda, Hip Hop, Ballet, Kizomba and West Coast Swing.

At Steps Dance Studio, we work with couples to create a first dance that feels natural, personal, and unforgettable. Whether you picture a simple, elegant first dance or something exciting that will leave your guests speechless, we will build it around your music, your personalities, and your comfort level.
You do not need prior dance experience to get started. Our instructors will guide you through the choreography at your own pace, helping you and your partner feel comfortable while bringing your vision to life.
From your first lesson to the final run-through, we are here to make learning your wedding dance unforgettable!

Eight lessons give you more time to learn, practice, and refine your routine together.

Competition Coaching / Preparation
Have you dreamt of competing? Do you love a challenge? Are you goal oriented?
Preparing for competitions helps you accelerate your learning and improve your dancing technique one-on-one with your instructor and/or dance partner. Excel at your favourite dance and improve your confidence on and off the dance floor. Dance competitions are a unique opportunity to showcase your dance skills and participate in the exciting and glamorous world of salsa congresses and dance conventions. This is your chance to shine!!
Benefit from one of Canada's most accomplished team of instructors—themselves former or current competitors—led by Jennifer Aucoin. Jennifer has represented Canada on the judging panel of dozens of international level competitions and world championships in Canada, the United States, Europe and South America, and can teach you what the judges are looking for.
Competition Heats Coaching: In a heated competition, the student social dances with their instructor or their amateur partner on the floor at the same time as other couples to a song selected by the DJ. In heats, the dancers register according to their level and dance against others at their level (newcomer, beginner, pre intermediate, intermediate, advanced etc). Choreography does not need to be memorized.
Competition Showcase Coaching: In a showcase competition, the teacher and student (pro-am) or 2 or more amateur students (am-am) prepare and perform a choreographed routine to a song they select.
